Will Fill 7th Legislative District Seat Vacated by Jack Conners

(TRENTON) -- Troy Singleton was sworn in on Monday by Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Assembly Democrats issued a multimedia package Monday of the swearing in.

"Troy has made a career out of fighting for the working families of this state," said Oliver. "I have no doubt that he will bring that same passion and commitment to his new role as Assemblyman. I welcome him as the newest member of the Democratic Caucus and look forward to working with him to spur our economy and move New Jersey forward."

Singleton, 38, will fill the seat vacated by Jack Conners who recently retired to serve as Director of Veterans Affairs for Camden County. He joins Assemblyman Herb Conaway, Jr., M.D. in representing the 7th Legislative District in the Assembly.

"This is a tremendous honor and I would like to thank everyone who entrusted me with their support," said Singleton. "I understand the enormity of the challenges at hand and that's why I am all the more eager to get to work. I look forward to being part of the team that is committed to helping pull our economy out of this recession, put people back to work and ensure that everyone in this state has a fighting chance to get ahead."

The multimedia package consists of a video of Assemblyman Singleton's swearing in and audio of same.
